Aisha Braveboy for State’s Attorney Biography
The Honorable Aisha N. Braveboy, Esq. is an accomplished lawyer with over fifteen years of legal and legislative experience. Ms. Braveboy is the Manager of Government Affairs for Children’s National Health System, and continues to practice law part-time as Of Counsel to the Law Offices of Gabriel J. Christian and Associates. In addition, for the past twelve (12) years, Ms. Braveboy has served as pro-bono legal counsel for the Community Public Awareness Council (C-PAC), a community-based juvenile diversionary program that has successfully diverted over thirty-five hundred (3500) students out of the criminal justice system. Ms. Braveboy also, now serves as Chair of the National Bar Association’s Legislative Committee. Alongside her pro-bono work with C-PAC, Ms. Braveboy has volunteered to represent individuals and organizations that need a voice. In 2014, Ms. Braveboy volunteered to represent the owner of a historic African-American home in Aberdeen, MD which was scheduled to be demolished by the city, and successfully won an injunction to prevent the demolition. In 2015, Ms. Braveboy represented the Teamsters who were slated to lose over 700 jobs due to the announced closure of Safeway’s Distribution Centers in Prince George’s County. After months of intense negotiations, she was able to successfully negotiate an agreement to prevent the closure. Throughout Prince George’s County, Ms. Braveboy has also represented seniors who were being victimized by their housing cooperative, as a well as homeowners facing foreclosures.
Ms. Braveboy served two terms in the General Assembly and was assigned to the House Economic Matters Committee. She served as Chair of the Consumer Protection Subcommittee and was elected by her peers to serve as Chair of the Maryland Legislative Black Caucus.
