Aisha Braveboy, has won the endorsement of the Metropolitan Washington Council of the AFL-CIO in her effort to become the next State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County.

Representing 180 local unions on behalf of workers in both the public and private sectors, the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO is a powerful political force in Prince George’s County and the endorsement is a major step forward for Braveboy’s campaign.

“As the voice of the working people in our area, the Metropolitan Washington Council is at the heart of the American labor movement,” said Braveboy. “They play a critical role on local, state and national issues that help promote social and economic justice for all working people.”

A former member of the Maryland House of Delegates, Braveboy has vowed to run the Office of the State’s Attorney in a way that ensures that every resident is treated fairly and equally and that criminals are effectively prosecuted.

The labor endorsement includes financial and voter mobilization support for the June 2018 primary election.

“Labor is proud to stand with Aisha Braveboy in her race for State’s Attorney because she has always stood with us,” said Jackie Jeter, President of the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO. “But, more importantly, she is a strong, smart and independent voice for safety and justice and will represent the diverse communities in Prince George’s County with integrity and compassion.”
“I am humbled to receive the endorsement of the Metropolitan Washington Council. Good jobs and fair treatment are essential to safe communities and I look forward to working with the labor movement to improve public safety in Prince George’s County,” said Braveboy.
